U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland continues to run the Democrat playbook of attacking hard-working police officers and supporting criminals. His instructions to Department of Justice officials recently resulted in accusing police departments of systematic racism, civil rights violations while helping Black Lives Matter and Antifa thugs avoid prosecution.
Following former officer Derek Chauvin’s conviction in the death of George Floyd, A.G. Garland ordered a sweeping probe of the entire Minneapolis department. Calling the investigation “pattern or practice,” the Garland DOJ plans to bring pressure to bear to prosecute the hard-working men and women who protect and serve. He implied the department was rife with White supremacists stating racism is “deeply woven into our history.”
The Democrat-run DOJ reopened an officer-involved shooting death in Louisville that had long been closed. Breonna Taylor was killed when her drug-dealer boyfriend fired on police serving a no-knock warrant for his arrest. Taylor was struck by a bullet when police returned fire. Biden’s politically-driven A.G. again called the unnecessary investigation a racist matter of “pattern and practice.”
Few would disagree this mirrors the Obama-era attacks on police departments in Democrat-run cities such as Chicago. Obama was quick to provide Democrat mayors cover by blaming patrol officers for increasing gun violence and homicide rates. Following pressure the ex-president’s DOJ put on departments, killings rose as officers were hamstrung from protecting citizens. With Joe Biden’s liberal handlers calling the shots, the current occupant of the White House recently read a prepared statement insulting boots-on-the-ground officers.
“This year, we also recognize that in many of our communities, especially Black and brown communities. There is a deep sense of distrust towards law enforcement,” Biden said. “A distrust that has been exacerbated by the recent deaths of several Black and brown people at the hands of law enforcement. These deaths have resulted in a profound fear, trauma, pain, and exhaustion for many Black and brown Americans, and the resulting breakdown in trust between law enforcement and the communities they have sworn to protect and serve.”
Adding insult to injury, DOJ attorneys refuse to prosecute Black Lives Matter and Antifa criminals for arson, assault, destruction of property, and looting America’s cities. A reported 58 of 97 arrests were recent dismissed by Garland’s federal prosecutors in the ongoing Portland, Oregon, riots. Many saw these groups attack police officers, set a federal building on fire, and beat innocent bystanders in what fake news outlets called “mostly peaceful protests.” Dozens of other pending cases are expected to be dismissed by Merrick Garland’s underlings.
“It’s offensive to all the men and women who risked their lives in Portland for 90 to 120 days or even longer in some cases, being attacked night after night after night,” former Trump Administration acting secretary of Homeland Security reportedly said.
Nearly half of all charges brought were dismissed by DOJ prosecutors. In one case, a rioter had charges dismissed for assaulting federal officers. A.G. Garland recently reiterated his commitment to prosecute conservatives and Trump supporters who entered the Capital building which was not set ablaze, and no one was assaulted or killed by protestors.
“Both are criminal,” he reportedly said. “But one is a core attack on our democratic institutions.”
The DOJ anticipates an increased budget to target conservative activists as “domestic terrorists” while Democrat-run cities continue to defund police departments.
